Chris Schmidt

Lincoln, Nebraska, native Chris Schmidt found his love for football at a young age when his family cheered the Huskers to victory. Joined by photographer Aaron Babcock and former coach Mike Babcock, Chris started his sports media journey in 2008. Now, he works as a host for Hail Varsity Radio and KFOR Radio. In 2021, he was awarded the NSMA Nebraska Sportscaster of the Year Award. After interviewing coaches and players, “Schmidty” loves returning home to partner Erin and their son, Carson.

Four-year letter winner and former Husker running back Damon Benning knows the ins and outs of the game. As a 1996 Orange Bowl MVP, 2-time National Champion and featured player on the Big Ten Network, Benning has a unique perspective on sports. After hanging up his jersey, the former athlete has continued to make a name for himself in local sports radio for over 15 years. Nebraska’s newest color analyst shares his signature commentary as a co-host on Hail Varsity Radio and local football broadcaster.

After graduating, the on-air personality got his start at ESPN Radio as a producer and weeknight show host. He’s also reported for CBS14 in Sioux City and worked with the Gateway Grizzlies and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. When he’s not recording for Hurrdat Media, Andrew can be found on the golf course, exploring Downtown Omaha or spending time with loved ones.
